Our Mom La Juanda (Gayle) Campbell-Melson was called home Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 by Jesus Christ our Savior. Mom was born Nov. 21, 1935 in Pampa, Texas. She met and married our father, Edward Melson on Nov. 10, 1955, they were married 16 years when the Lord called him home, leaving mom with four young daughters to raise by herself, and that she did. We learned hard work, determination and strength from her as well as our love of all great and small things in our lives. Mom is survived by; Cathy (C.J.) Williams (Albert), Sherry Melson Sherrod (Anthony), Rhonda Elmore (James) and Vicky Jo White (David). Her grandchildren; Jeffrey and Chad Williams, Joshua and Jacob Elmore, Jordyn White and Tony and Tannis Elmore and by great-grandchildren; Jaylynn, Damien, Amara Williams, Sabastian and Santiago Elmore). She is preceeded in death by her parents, Joe and Jewell Campbell, her husband, Edward Melson, granddaughter, Kayla Brianne Williams, grandson, Lakota Anthony White. Mom will be cremated and a small gathering of all who loved and knew her was held at Fairacres Baptist Church on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013. The family would like to send a very special Thank You to Maria Porras her caretaker, friend and companion for the last 8 years, "We Love You". Also a special thank you to the Memorial Medical Center Family Practice and Memorial Medical Center 3rd Floor - West, all the doctors and nurses you were all terrific and went above and beyond all your duties.
