Leon Edgar Williamson (Eddie), 77, passed away on Jan. 27, 2013. He was born April 2, 1935 in Madison, Fla. to Delbert Vinson Williamson and Eliza Lee Buchanan. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Northwestern states of the U.S. He married Letha Mellor on Feb. 6, 1960. Leon is a retired professor of Education from NMSU. He is survived by his wife Letha M. Williamson; children Letha Ann Sweetring (Tracey), Harbert Vinson Williamson (Natalie), Adlai Warren Williamson (Ivie), Rachel Lee Martinez, and Chatt Carlson Williamson (Susan); sister Myrtle Lee Adams; brothers Jimmy, Thomas and Wayne Williamson; 17 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, several aunts, uncle and many cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at the Idaho LDS (Mormon) chapel at 2915 E. Idaho Ave., Las Cruces, NM. At his request, cremation will take place.
