Benjamin "Benji" Torres, 94, of Rincon entered eternal life Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at Casa Del Sol Senior Care Center. She was born March 30, 1918 in Ciudad Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico to Felix and Natividad Najera Castro. "Benji" as she was fondly known to her family and friends enjoyed life to the fullest, always welcoming anyone with lots of love and food. Her passion was to honor the Lord and spending time with all her family. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. Survivors include four sons, Felix Torres (Lupe), Rafael Torres (Ana), all of Las Cruces, Juan Torres (Merlinda) of Garfield, and Manuel Torres (Edna) of Hatch; three daughters, Ofelia Hernandez (Tomas), and Lydia Calderon, all of Las Cruces, and Adela Amador (Albino) of Rincon. Other survivors include numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eduardo H. Torres; daughter, Carmen Garcia: granddaughter, Leonor Quesada and her siblings. Visitation for Mrs. Torres will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. with Pastor Manuel Torres officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow in the Rincon Cemetery where she will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Albino Amador, Tomas Hernandez, Tony Garcia, Armando, Manuel, Anthony and Edward Torres. Honorary bearers will be her grandchildren.
