Margaret Louise Fisher McGhee, 98, formerly of Lordsburg, N.M., passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 in Las Cruces, N.M. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church of Lordsburg, Third and High streets, with visitation at 1 p.m., followed by the service at 2 p.m. Inurnment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Louise was born in Lordsburg on Nov. 9, 1914, to Edward Marion Fisher and Mabel Gammon Fisher. She was educated in the Lordsburg schools and graduated from Lordsburg High School in 1932. She attended the University of New Mexico from 1932-1934. After college, she worked as a switchboard operator in Lordsburg for Mountain States Telephone Company. In 1940, she met and married Jack McGhee. From this union they had four children: Jackie, Janet, Jane and Jerry. She was a devoted housewife and mother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lordsburg. She lived independently until her 90s and loved visits from her children and her grandchildren. She appreciated visits from her friends while still living in her home at Lordsburg. She enjoyed many sports and favorite programs on television. She enjoyed listening to music, especially gospel music. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; her son, Jerry; her brother, E.M. Fisher, Jr.; her sister, Ruthe Foxworth; and her great granddaughter, Kristen Miller. She is survived by her daughters, Jackie (Ray) Miller of Gretna, La., Janet (Walter) Mechem of Las Cruces and Jane (Ron) Hall of Silver City, N.M. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Case del Sol Rehab Center for their loving, compassionate care. At her request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Lordsburg and/or the Senior Citizen Center of Lordsburg. Cremation was done by Getz Funeral Home of Las Cruces and the Lordsburg/Bright Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. To send condolences, log in to
