It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather, Richard Ray Sanchez, 40 of Las Cruces on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 25, 1972 in Socorro, N.M. to Richard A. and Anna Hernandez Sanchez. "Ray," as he was fondly known to family and friends, was full of life; had a great sense of humor, always had a huge smile and would light up a room with his laughter. Ray will always be remembered for his large heart and love that he had for everyone. Those left to mourn his passing along with his parents include three sons, Justin Richard, Carlos and Christian Ray; three daughters, Chakira L'nae, Cassandra and Atzi; his loving companion of 14 years, Sofia Badillo; two brothers, Richard Sanchez, Jr., and wife Claudia and Charles Gene Hernandez; two sisters, Delia Meza and Angelita Arenas and husband Thomas. Other survivors include one granddaughter, Aliyah Rae; his maternal grandmother, Angelita Hernandez; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Rey Sanchez, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Mariano Hernandez and numerous aunts and uncles. Visitation for Richard will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road, where the funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. with Pastor Hector Vega officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Road, where he will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Justin Richard Valenzuela, Christian Ray Sanchez, Ruben Najera, Richard Sanchez, Jr., Carlos Badillo, Sebastian, Michael and Andrew Mancha.
