Josie V. Martinez, 92, formerly of Las Cruces, passed away on Dec. 5, 2012 at home in Las Vegas, Nev. with her daughter Roseanne by her side. Born Sept. 5, 1920 in Mora, N.M. Josie was preceded in death by her husband Ted Martinez; her son Thomas; and her grandson Joey Jr. She is survived by her son Ted Martinez Jr. of Tucson, Ariz.; her daughters Roseanne Gonzales of Las Vegas, Nev. and Carol Carrasco of Carlsbad, N.M.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Josie was the epitome of a perfect housewife and mother. Taking care of her family, by providing a loving and supportive home for her children, was always her first priority. On the weekends, she loved to go dancing with her husband Ted and socialize with friends. Aside from bingo, which she played well, Josie's main hobby was to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in New Mexico and Nevada. Josie logged a lot of frequent flyer miles with the airlines, but she was happy to do it as long as it meant spending time with the family… and getting free peanuts! Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, starting at 1 p.m. Thereafter, Josie will be laid to rest at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Rev. Ricardo Bauza will be officiating.
The Guest Book is expired.
