It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, aunt and true friend, Maria E. Medrano, who entered eternal life on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 to meet with her Creator and Savior our Lord Jesus Christ. She was born in El Paso, Texas on Oct. 10, 1967 to Ignacio and Ester Medrano. Maria worked for the state of New Mexico Courts as an administrative assistant for many years and was a member of Feliz Encuentro – Las Cruces First. She was the most kind, friendliest and generous heart giving person who always had a smile and brought joy to our hearts and in return was loved by many and became family to close friends. Maria will be deeply missed by all who knew her and were blessed with her God giving spirit. Those left to mourn her passing include two brothers, Johnny Medrano of Las Cruces and Ed Medrano and wife Sandra of Santa Ana, Calif.; three sisters, Gustava Aguilar, also of Las Cruces, Irma Gonzales and husband Robert of Bellflower, Calif. and Rafaela Canales and husband Javier, of Glendale, Ariz.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation for Ms. Medrano will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer 300 E. Boutz Road, where the evening service is scheduled for 7 p.m. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in the same chapel with Pastor Louie Rey officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow in Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Road where she will be laid to rest in the family plot. Service as casket bearers will be Aaron Aguilar, Nathaniel Alvarez, Junior Barraza, Alonzo and Lawrence Canales and Andy Lopez.
