Surrounded by family, Evangeline Carabajal, 63, of Las Cruces, N.M. left us to be with our Lord on Sunday, June 23. She was born on Jan. 17, 1950. She was a former employee of Sara Lee Hosiery. She was preceded in death by our beloved mother Celia Lucero; uncle Jesus Carabajal; aunt Cruz Garcia; cousins Jerry Gomez, Richard Garcia, and Debbie Felix; and grandparents Guillermo and Belen Carabajal. Evangeline is survived by her daughter Crystal Carabajal; siblings Stella Alderete and husband Richard, Felix Valencia, Cynthia Lucero, Sandra Lujan, and Bridgit Ortega and husband Rick; step-father Conrado Lucero; adored nieces and nephews Valarie Valencia, Naomi Ortega, Joshua Alderete, Celeste Alderete, Jonathan Ortega, Ryan Lujan, Israel Ortega, Xavier Ortega, and Brandon Lujan; uncles Roman Garcia and Clemente Carabajal, aunt Chole Gomez and husband Ramon; and cousins Rosie Carabajal, Becky Garcia, Nellie Aldava, Debbie Gomez-Sanchez, Eddie Gomez, Danny Garcia and wife Sally, Betty Johnston and husband Roy, Marcie Banuelos and husband Lou, David Garcia, and Eric Garcia and wife Brianna. There will be a memorial service for her at Mesilla Valley Baptist Church at 2499 W. University Ave. (located on the corner of Calle del Sur and La Mesilla Circle) in Mesilla, N.M. on Friday, June 28 at 10 a.m.
