Jose Ramon Estrada Obituary
Jose Ramon Estrada, 37, lifelong resident of Las Cruces entered eternal life Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at University Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. ""Joey,"" as he was fondly known to family and friends, was born Jan. 25, 1976 to Roberto and Alice Orona Estrada. He was a kind-hearted, giving person that would literally give you the shirt off his back. He would feed you if you were hungry and not let you go without. If ever you were feeling down and having a bad day he was there to give a hug and comfort you. Joey was famous for his jokes and comical personality. There was never was a dull moment when Joey was around. He loved cooking, camping and being outdoors. He enjoyed his Sunday afternoons listening to oldies and eating ""HOT"" chile. He loved his family, his mom, and his kids were his world. Those left to mourn his passing include three sons, Johnny ""Pelon"" and Tony Estrada and Tony Baca; three daughters, Destiny and Delilah Estrada, and Destiny Maier; his companion, Vicky Medrano, his mother, Alice Orona Estrada; two sisters, April Estrada and companion, Silas ""Andy"" Garcia and Stephanie Estrada. Other survivors include his maternal grandfather, Isaac Orona, Sr. and paternal grandmother, Bessie Estrada; four nieces Lisa, Jasmine, Joelyssa, and Yesenia; six nephews, Robert, Anthony, Devin Adam (Abbi), Michael and Aaron. Joey was preceded in death by his father, Robert ""Bobby"" Estrada, his brother, Michael Estrada, grandfather, Richard Estrada and grandmother, Josefina Orona. Visitation for Joey will be held from 2 - 4 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road. Recitation of the holy rosary will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina St. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 in the same church with the Rev. Martin Cornejo, celebrant. The rite of committal and interment will follow at San Albino Cemetery in Mesilla where he will lay to rest in the family plot. Serving as casket bearers will be Mario ""Gords"" Padilla, Conrad Estrada, Jr., Isaac Rodriguez, Joey Tovar, Orlando ""Orly"" Castorena and Ruben Rivera. Honorary bearers will be Johnny Estrada, Michael Marquez, Silas ""Andy"" Garcia, Eric Tovar, Alex Chavez, Aaron Lerma, Marcus Blakey, Josh Rodriguez, Andrew Rigales, Daniel Orona, Orlando Orona, Louie Orano and Israel ""Werd"" Guerrero.
