It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Luz H. Lazo, 86, of Las Cruces on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Sagecrest Nursing Center. She was born April 27, 1927 in Baldwin Park, California to Jesus and Lupe Avilo Hernandez. Mrs. Lazo was a seamstress and member of the Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing include three sons, Robert Lazo of Las Cruces, George Lazo of Anaheim, California, David Lazo and wife Rose of Arcadia, California; three daughters, Lupe Wruble and husband Eric of Kingsville, Texas, Sandra Mendoza and Nancy Salcedo both of Las Cruces; three brothers, Marcos Hernandez and wife Mague of El Paso, Texas, Pete Hernandez and wife Cande, Jesus "Chuy" Hernandez and wife Lupe all of El Monte, California; thee sisters, Adela Fuentes of Sunland Park, Esperanza Peña of El Paso, Texas and Jesusita Solis of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Other survivors include 11 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benito Lazo; two sons-in-law, Juni Salcedo whom she favored and Rick Mendoza. .

Visitation for Mrs. Lazo will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Funeral Service is scheduled for 11 a.m. with Reverend Martin Cordero officiating. Cremation will follow and Inurnment of Cremains will take place at a later date.
