Billy Carl Guthrie, age 69, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at his home with his loving family by his side having fought a battle with cancer. Billy was born January 24, 1944 in Las Cruces an only child of Bert Chester (Babe) and Ruby Doris LeFitte Guthrie and was raised around Ted Horner who was like a brother to him. Having served his country honorably in the United States Air Force for 20 years with three tours in Turkey, Billy retired as a Communication Technician from White Sands Missile Range after 20 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Billy will be deeply missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon Patterson Guthrie of the family home: two daughters, Patsy Kelley (Dan) of Texico, NM, Debbie Gallegos of Las Cruces; his grandsons, Christopher Gallegos (Mel) of Las Cruces, William Thomas Klebold (Alex) of Lubbock, TX; granddaughters, Aspyn Reneé Reames (Robert) of Clovis; a great-grandson, Cristian Isiah Gallegos as well as extended family members Ted and Johnell Horner. Billy was preceded in death by his parents; great granddaughter, Kynlee Own Klebold and numerous aunts, and uncles. At his request cremation will take place and no services are scheduled at this time. The Gurthrie family would like to offer much gratitude to Doctor's Rene Guerrero, Terry McMillan and Bruce Greenfield and all the staff and nurses at Mesilla Valley Hospice who assisted and guided them through this battle.
