It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, Mary Esther Baca, age 55, of Las Cruces on Monday, October 7, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born March 9, 1958 in Phoenix, Arizona to Albino and Mary Montenegro Baca. She worked as a food nutritionist at Memorial Medical Center, and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Those left to mourn her passing include three daughters, Victoria Gonzales and companion Jose Esparza, Rachel Apodaca, and Brandy Valdez and husband Steven; her parents; one brother, Vicente Baca; five sisters, Dolores Gonzales, Norma Gonzales, Ana Marie Ceniseros, Florinda Baca and Renee Baca all of Las Cruces. Other survivors include eight grandchildren, Saedies Rae, Kaszandra, Adrianna, Andrew, Matthew, Jacob, Jonathan, and Alexzandria, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Albino Jr. and Henry "Shaggy" Baca. At Mary's request, cremation has taken place and Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2013 at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church, 1178 N. Mesquite Street, with a Memorial Mass to follow immediately thereafter. Officiating will be the Fathers of the Order of Augustinian Recollects. Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date.
