Wynona Tavernier, 73, a resident of Silver City, New Mexico, entered eternal rest Thursday, May 22, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born March 30, 1941, in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, to William Reiley Sutton and Alice Emma Scharfetter. She was a life member of Florida Garden Railroad Society, VFW Women's Auxiliary. Wynona was past president of the Town and Country Garden Club. She was a charter member of the Community of Faith, United Methodist Church in Davenport, Florida. She was a retired accountant for the Florida Cattleman's Association in Kissimmee, Florida. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Clifford, of the family home; one son, Robert Tavernier of Silver City; one brother, William Sutton and wife, Barbara, of Orlando, Florida; two step-brothers, David Henson and wife, Sandy, of Orlando; Kenneth Henson and wife, Shirley, of Sarasota, Florida; two sisters, Joyce Watt and husband, Dennis, of Lewisburg, Tennessee; Carol Northcott and husband, William, of Orlando; two step-sisters, Lois Pal and husband, Don, of Ohio; Norma Hale of Georgia; a brother-in-law, Wayne Wharton. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Linda Wharton. A graveside service will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 27, at 11 a.m. at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with Marshal Steele officiating.
