ESPERANZA "ESPE" EATON, 86, resident of Lordsburg passed away Sunday August 12, 2007 at Mt. View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 6 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lordsburg where a prayer vigil will begin at 6 o'clock that evening. Mass of the resurrection will be Thursday morning at 9 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Clark, Pastor officiating The rite of committal will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery.
Espe was born January 11, 1921 in Valedon, New Mexico to Eulogio and Clotilde (Alvarado) Figueroa. She has lived in Lordsburg most all her life and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She loved her community which was evidenced by her dedication to the Lordsburg Senior Citizens Center. Espe was past President of the Lordsburg Center and has been involved in it's operation for over 32 years. Over this time she was honored to be recipient of several awards and also to be recognized by the State of New Mexico for her efforts.
She is survived by her daughters, MaryLou Diaz and her husband Salvador of Lordsburg, Rachel Williams and her husband J.D. of Anthony, New Mexico; 2 brothers, Louis Figueroa and his wife Manuela of Las Cruces, Raymond Figueroa and his wife Julia of El Monte, CA; 1sister, Cuca Bailey of Los Angeles, CA; 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Espe was preceded in death by her husband Demetrio Chavez and by 3 sisters, Betty, Mary and Ernestina.
Pallbearers will be Jon Michael Moralez, Jayson D. Williams, Joseph D. Moralez, Jonathon Minor Moralez, Bobbie Martinez, Daniel Lopez and Greg Saucedo. Honorary bearers are Salvador Diaz, Arturo Saucedo, Louie Figueroa, Raymond Figueroa, and J.D. Williams.
