Franklin P. D'Agostino, Sr. PINE GROVE Franklin P. D'Agostino, Sr., 78, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, in Schuylkill Medical Center East, Pottsville, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 11, 1935, in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late Joseph and Lilly Mae Dick D'Agostino. Frank was affiliated with St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Pine Grove. He worked as a Nursing Assitant for 37 years, in the Lebanon V.A. Hospital. Frank served as a police officer with the Pine Grove Borough Police Department for 40 years and as a crossing guard for many years. He had been one of the original ambulance attendants for the Pine Grove Area Ambulance Association. Frank had been a Pine Grove Little League Manager and in 2009 was honored as the Pine Grove Lions Club Citizen of the Year for his community service. Frank served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict stationed with the U.S.S. Staten Island. He received the National Defense Service Medal. Preceding him in death were six brothers, Joseph, Irvin, Richard, Louis, John, and Leo; and seven sisters, Anna Bligan, Martha Fisher, Helen Frantz, Rose Brown, Florence D'Agostino, Betty Scholl, and Roma Schaeffer. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Bonnie L. Scheibley D'Agostino; one son, Franklin P., Jr. and wife, Lisa D'Agostino; four daughters, Tina D'Agostino, Lori, wife of Paul Wiscount, JoAnne, wife of Craig Hasenauer, and Karen, wife of Dave Soper, all of the Pine Grove area; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Albert D'Agostino of Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Raymond Hurst officiating. There will be a viewing on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the H.L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery Pine Grove. The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to either the St. Peter's U.C.C. Memorial Fund, 277 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, PA 17963; or to the Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA, 18 Wertz Road, Pine Grove, PA 17963 in his memory.

I will never forget how encouraging and supportive he was of JoAnne many years ago when she competed in the National Spelling Bee. He was a great cheer leader.
