Staller, Diane  
Diane J. Staller Annville Diane J. Staller, 70, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016, in York Hospital Wellspan. Born on August 30, 1945, in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd Sr. and Eleanor V. Donton Trumbo. She attended Pine Grove High School and was a member of the former Mary E. Moore Chapter No. 372 Order of the Eastern Star, Pine Grove Diane was a cook and server at United Church of Christ in Annville and then was employed at Laudermilch's in Annville as a clerk. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Robert L. Staller, Sr.; a daughter, Paula and husband Jeffrey Fastrich of Hummelstown; two sons, Robert L. Staller, Jr. and his fiancé Linda Reed, and Kevin and wife Becky Staller, both of Camp Strauss; six grandchildren, Bradley Staller, Harlee Huntzberger, Owen Fastrich, Austin Fastrich, Kevin Weitzel, and Kyle Weitzel; a great-granddaughter, Haven Huntzberger; a sister, Karen Wertz of North Carolina; and a brother, Lloyd Trumbo, Jr. of Tremont. All Services will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Josh Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Annville, at a later date. The H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

Sattazahn, Richard  
Richard Sattazahn Grantville Richard W. Sattazahn, 84, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016, in his home. Born October 15, 1931, in Palmyra, he was the son of the late William C. and Susan M. (Leininger) Sattazahn and was also preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Flowers. He retired as an inventory specialist from the former New Cumberland Army Depot and also retired from the Pennsylvania Air National Guard 201st Civil Engineering Flight (Red Horse). A 1949 graduate of Palmyra High School and U.S. Air Force veteran, he was a member of Shells Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grantville, Shellsville V.F.W. #9639, Palmyra American Legion #72, The Retiree Enlisted Association and the Hershey Italian Lodge. He enjoyed playing softball and was an avid Phillies and Penn State fan. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Rena J. (Kline) Sattazahn; daughters, Brenda Frye and husband Larry of Hummelstown and Pamela Zerphy and husband Gregory of Elizabethtown; grandchildren, Seth Frye and wife Megan, Sarah Zerphy and Christina Frye; and great-grandchildren, Jordan and Alexis Frye. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016 at his church, 287 Shells Church Road, Grantville. Viewings 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, both at the church. Interment, with military honors, will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Sherk, Jean  
Jean L. Sherk Newville Jean L. Sherk, 87, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in the Swaim Health Center, Newville. She was born on April 6, 1929 in Annville, a daughter of the late Paul L. and Ruth (Gollam) Schmuck. Jean graduated from Annville High School with the class of 1946. She retired from the Carlisle Bon-Ton Store after 16 years of service. She is survived by her husband/companion of nearly 60 years, Richard S. Sherk of Newville; two daughters, Constance J. Barnes of Chambersburg and Chrystal L. (husband, J. Edward) Short of Newville; one sister, Joanne Hansen of Cornwall; three grandchildren, Abigail (Benjamin) Leese, Meghan Short and Andrew (Jacqueline) Short; one great-grandson, Timothy Leese; and many nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by three brothers, Sidney, Christian and Paul Schmuck; five sisters, Rosalie Rittle, Madeline Hudson, Pauline Lasek, Kathleen Arnold and Rudy Schmuck. A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Westminster Memorial Gardens, 1159 Newville Rd., Carlisle, followed by a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. at the Thrush Chapel at the Swaim Health Center, 210 Big Spring Rd., Newville, with Pastor Dana Blouch-Hanson officiating. A visitation will immediately follow the memorial service. Betty J. Spang SADSBURYVILLE Betty J. "Betz" Spang, 67, died Sunday April 24, 2016, at Jefferson Neuroscience Hospital, Philadelphia. She was born on Wednesday, April 20, 1949, to the late Clifford M. "Mel" McQuate and Ruth McQuate nee Swartz in Heidelberg Twp. She graduated from Elco in 1966 and enjoyed cross stich and bowling. Betz was a server at Bob Evans in Lancaster. Surviving are companion, Charlie L. Witherspoon, Sr.; daughters, Melody A. Strickler, and Veronica F., spouse of Michael Godish; son, Charlie L. "C.J." Witherspoon, Jr.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Edwin M. McQuate, and Paul A., spouse of Margo McQuate; sisters, Dorothy M. Wagner, Carole Ann Spang and companion, Jim Walters, Janet L. Elliott, Mary R., spouse of David Walter, Lucy F. Keener and companion, Chester Hornberger, and Nancy J., spouse of Todd G. Ruoss. Dorothy R. Stout Lebanon Dorothy R. "Dot" Stout, 85, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at her home. She was born on Monday, December 22, 1930 to the late George Peters and Ruth Peters nee Frazier in Lebanon. She enjoyed music and gardening. Dot owned Dot & Joe's Restaurant for 10 years in Lebanon. She was a loving and happy mother. Surviving are husband, Sheldon L. Stout; sons, Thomas M., spouse of Violet E. Peters, William T., spouse of Beth A. Peters; daughter, Regina Jo Peters; stepdaughters, Barbara A. Stout and Marianne Bogert; grandchildren, Jason Peters, Marc Peters, Kristy Ludwig, Tammy Allwein, Jeremy Wunderlich, Jamie Norton, Kenny Gilbert, Randy Gilbert, Tammy Heilman, Angela Peters; 28 great- grandchildren; brother, George P. Peters; sister, Joanne Martin. She was preceded in death by step father, Chester Spotts; son, Ronald Peters; sister, Mary Pennypacker. Strominger Jr., Mervin  
Mervin H. Strominger, Jr. Greentown Mervin H. Strominger, Jr., 75, formerly of Campbelltown, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016, in the Orangeville Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born in New Cumberland on February 14, 1941, he was the son of the late Mervin H. Strominger, Sr., and Verna Bricker Swartz. Mervin retired as a maintenance supervisor from the Hershey Chocolate Company after 40 years of service. He was a 1960 graduate of Hershey High School and served with the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam War. Mervin was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8317, Benton, and Post 1687, Hummelstown. In addition, he was a member of the National Rifle Association, the PA Trappers Association, and the Retired Chocolate Workers Association. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing. As a collector, Mervin also enjoyed going to auctions looking for treasures. However, most important to him was spending time with his grandsons. Mervin is survived by his companion, Betty M. Reimard; two daughters, Amanda S. Courtright wife of Ryan L. of Greentown, and Debbie S. Peterson wife of Terry E. of Lebanon; three grandsons, Logan Courtright, Luke Courtright and Steven Peterson husband of Megan; his surrogate children, William Reimard and Kimberly Coolbaugh wife of Ronald, both of Benton, and their children, Shannon Biichle, Shane Biichle, and William Reimard; one sister, Shirley J. MacCormack of Middletown; his sister-in-law and niece, Pamela and Austine Strominger, both of Emlenton; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mervin was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond L. Strominger and Harry Strominger; and five sisters, Doris Behm, Vivian Ayers, Ruth Kurucz, Lois Northern, and Arlene Hetzel. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 W. Main St., Hummelstown, with the Rev. Jason C. Mackey, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Township. Family and friends are invited to the viewing Friday in the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service.
