Harold W. Layser MYERSTOWN Harold W. Layser, 86, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at StoneRidge Towne Centre, Myerstown. He was the husband of Julia F. (Troutman) Layser, to whom he was married 65 years on March 25, 2015. Born in Myerstown on September 20, 1928, he was the son of the late Howard and Lucille (Wenrich) Layser. A graduate of Myerstown High School, he was a member of Tulpehocken U.C.C., Richland. Harold served in the U.S. Navy during W.W.II and was employed as a machinist at North American Refractories, Womelsdorf, for 32-1/2 years, retiring in 1991. He enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes, fishing, hunting, camping and traveling. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kay M., wife of Charles Gallop, of Myerstown; sons, Harold W., Jr., husband of Vicki Layser, of Williamstown, N.J., Michael G., husband of Anita Layser, of Carlisle; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one step granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter; and a brother, Marvin. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Tulpehocken U.C.C., Richland, preceded by a viewing beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tulpehocken U.C.C., 961 Tulpehocken Road, Richland, PA 17087. Long, Arlene  
Arlene E. Long HERSHEY Arlene Elizabeth Long, 99, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015, in the Hershey Medical Center with her loving family holding her hand. Arlene was born January 1, 1916, in Union Deposit, daughter of James Wike and Elizabeth Irene (Fasnacht) Brunner. She was a 1933 graduate of Hershey High School and worked in the Traffic Department of Hershey Foods, retiring in December 1977. She was predeceased in 1996 by her husband Roy L. Long, whom she married in 1937, and a brother James G. Brunner in 2012. Arlene was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hershey, where she taught Sunday school, and an over 65-yr member of Hershey Chapter OES. She was an avid reader frequenting the Hershey Library, a crazy good card player, and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and the casinos. After retiring, she and Roy traveled the world and while home spent countless hours loving and caring for their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her secret to a long and healthy life is a piece of chocolate a day. Surviving are her son, James W. Long; daughter Linda E. (Long) Watson (Robert); grandchildren Elizabeth "Lisa" (Harnden) Agius (James) of Eldersburg, Md.; Christopher Harnden of Raleigh N.C.; Patrick Harnden of Hershey; step-grandchildren Tamala King (Larry) of Camp Hill, Andrea Witmer (Chris) of Etters; Dr. Robert Watson (Claudia) of Boca Raton, Fla.; Wendy Kristich (Andrew) of Hershey; great-granddaughters, Ella, Claire and Laura Agius; step great-grandchildren, Peyton and Josh Kopp, Parker and Spencer King, Alex and Isabella Watson and Willow Kristich. The family would like to thank the Neuroscience Critical and Intermediate Care nurses and the 4th floor nurses at Hershey Medical Center and Hospice of Central PA for their excellent care. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Hershey Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to First United Methodist Church, 64 W. Long, Robert Paul  
Robert Paul Long MILFORD, DE Robert Paul "Scooter Bob" Long, 74, died Thursday, April 9, 2015 . Bob was born in Lebanon to the late Paul and Madeleine (Reuther) Long. He graduated from Newmanstown High School and later served in the U.S. Navy. In 1995, he retired from the Pennsylvania State Police as a Detective and Polygraph Examiner. Bob enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, and feeding the ducks at Bowers Beach. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Therese (Culley) Long; and stepdaughter, Alisha Trio and spouse Vince. He is also survived by his former wife, Kathleen (Miller), with whom he had four children: son, Michael and wife Stacey, daughter, Terry Drass and husband Tony, son Randy and wife Ida, son Brian and wife Kris; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Family and friends are invited to attend services at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE, at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015.
