Kevin L. Boyer JONESTOWN Kevin L. Boyer, 58, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014, at the St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading. Born in Lebanon, on May 29, 1956, he was the son of the late Dorothy Boyer Werni. Kevin worked as a crane operator for Cambridge-Lee Industries in Reading. He was a member of the Kittatinny Hunting and Fishing Club. He enjoyed music, archery, fishing, and especially being in the outdoors. He is survived by his son, Adam P. Boyer of Jonestown; stepfather, Joel Werni of Jonestown; brothers, Todd T. Hartlieb of Jonestown, Timothy T. Hartlieb of Lebanon, and Joel D. Werni of Covington; stepbrother, Joseph Werni, Jr. of Watsontown; and a stepsister, Marie Leed of Lebanon. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 26, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 and Camp Meeting Road, Jonestown. Brandt, Nellie J.  
Nellie J. Brandt CLEONA Nellie J. Brandt, 83, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014, in Spang Crest Manor, Lebanon. She was the wife of the late David Gurney Brandt who died in 1972. Born in Lebanon on March 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Florence Hutchinson Yocum. She was retired from the shipping department at Butler Manufacturing, Annville, with over 20 years of service. Nellie was a graduate of Lebanon High School, a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, Lebanon, and the Lebanon Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Nellie lived a full and happy life, enjoyed her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was attending her grandchildren's sporting, musical, and school events. Surviving is a daughter, Barbara A. Brandt of Cleona; a son, James M. husband of Kathy Brandt of Annville; grandchildren, Jessica, Danielle, Kristen, Becca and Andrew Brandt; and a great-granddaughter, Ava Nichole Lopez-Brandt. She was preceded in death by a son, G. David Brandt; and a sister, Catherine Folmer. Memorial services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville. Inurnment will be in Grand View Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Buffington Sr., George D.  
George D. Buffington, Sr. PALMYRA George D. Buffington, Sr., 78, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014, at home. Born October 29, 1936, in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Meade M. and Mildred O. (Henry) Buffington and was also preceded in death by a grandson, George D. Buffington, III. A retired mail carrier, he attended Lawn Evangelical Congregational Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from William Penn High School and was a member of the Palmyra Sportsman's Association, Campbelltown American Legion #831, Trout Unlimited, and the NRA. Surviving are his wife, Judith A. (Wenger) Buffington; sons, George D. Buffington, Jr. of Dauphin, Daniel M., husband of Katherine Buffington of Harrisburg, Michael L. Buffington of Camp Hill, and Lawrence E., husband of Denise Buffington of Hummelstown; stepchildren, Dennis, husband of Tanya Stevens of Campbelltown, and Shelly, wife of Lloyd Lineaweaver of Palmyra; brother, Meade M., Jr., husband of Lynn Buffington of Camp Hill; and six grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at his church, 5566 Elizabethtown Road, Lawn, preceded by a visitation from 10 a.m. Interment in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville. John F. Burkholder HEIDELBERG TWP. John F. Burkholder, Jr., 69, of Heidelberg Twp., Lebanon Co., passed away in the late afternoon hours, Sunday, December 14, 2014, in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, of natural causes. He was the husband of Anne R. (Strickler) Burkholder. Born September 18, 1945, in Lebanon, he was a son of the late John F. Burkholder Sr. & Mazie R. (Bender) Burkholder. John was an insurance agent and partner in Advocate Insurance, Reading. He had also proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Jason S. Carey NEW CUMBERLAND Jason Schauer Carey, 35, of Fairview Twp., died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at his home. He worked as a Customer Service Representative for Exel Logistics, Mechanicsburg. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Lemoyne where he served as Lead Usher; Liberty Marching Club and Independent Fire Company of Lebanon; American Legion Post 143 and VFW Post 7415 of New Cumberland. He coached Red Land Little League Baseball and was a diehard Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Phillies Fan. He is survived by his daughter, Mackenzie Schauer Carey; parents, Brian H. and Lori Carey of New Cumberland; paternal grandparents, Howard and Anita Carey of New Cumberland; maternal grandparents, John and Joy Schauer of Lebanon; brother, Jordan T. Carey of New Cumberland; aunt, Danielle Melhorn and cousin, Taylor Melhorn both of New Cumberland. Viewing will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 4 p.m. Saturday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Lemoyne. Verna E. Funk TAMPA, FL Verna E. Funk, 94, formerly of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, December 18, 2014, in Woodbridge Nursing Home, Tampa, Fla. She was the wife of Levi A. Funk, who died in 1991. Born in Lancaster County, on March 13, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Levi and Frances Leedom Eckert. She was a retiree from the Kiss Department at Hershey Foods Corp. and was a member of Campbelltown United Methodist Church. Surviving are a son, Robert L. Funk and wife, Barbara of Tampa, Fla.; and four grandsons, Robert and wife, Denise, and sons, Matthew and Jonathan, Thomas, and wife, Tammi and daughter, Micah Daniel, and Michael and wife, Vasana. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Harold, Ralph, Mark, William, and Paul Eckert; and two sisters, Mary Greenawalt and Ruth Meyerhoffer. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Denise Founds officiating.
