Bauer M.D., Robert L.  
Robert L. Bauer, M.D. PALMYRA Robert L. Bauer, M.D., who most desired to be remembered as "an olde country doctor," died at the age of 93 on Sunday, January 25, 2015. He was born in Chester, Pa. on December 16, 1921, to Louis and Jane Bauer. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Jane (Parker) Bauer. Graduating from Chester Public Schools, Dr. Bauer attended Ursinus College and Temple University School of Medicine. Following internship at Bryn Mawr Hospital, he entered the U.S. Navy and served as Flight Surgeon for the U.S. Navy Air Group 8, Atlantic Fleet. His practice of Family Medicine began in Intercourse, Pa. in 1949 where the family lived for 20 years. He and two other physicians established the first Department of Family Medicine in the nation at the Penn State Medical Center in Hershey in 1967, where he taught and practiced. Relocating to the Outer Banks of N.C., he was one of the first practitioners at Outer Banks Medical Center and established the new programs for the Dare County Health Department in school health, and pediatric and mental health, as well as a visiting nurse program. Returning to Palmyra in 1977, he continued practicing family medicine until his retirement in 1986. Dr. Bauer was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Palmyra, and a longtime Sunday School teacher there. He was a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine, a member of the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Lebanon County Medical Society. Upon retiring, he continued to enjoy his many loves, gardening, bird watching, traveling, and volunteering. He is survived by his daughters, Janette Rowe, Doryth Deisley, Nancy Byrne, and Carol Lynn Bauer; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Carolyn McCray and Nancy Wolfgang. His daughter, Robin Sue Bauer, preceded him in death in 1974. A memorial service will be held at the DiMatteo Worship Center at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, 1200 Grubb Road, Palmyra, on Saturday, January 31 at 2:30 p.m. Friends and family are invited for visitation from 1 p.m. until time of the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078. Thomas G. Becker LEBANON Thomas G. "Tom" Becker, 54, died on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was born on Sunday, March 13, 1960, to the late Paul Becker and Elizabeth Becker nee Beard in Lebanon. Tom worked as a Produce Manager at Karns and enjoyed NASCAR and car shows. Surviving are wife, Lynda M. Becker nee Becker; children, Tiffany Becker, Gregory Becker, and Nicole Becker; sister, Paulette Mendoff; and several nieces and nephews. Viewing will be on Saturday, January 31, 2015, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Christman's Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Cumberland St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Becker, William C.  
William C. Becker LEBANON William C. Becker, 80, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was born on November 12, 1934, in Lebanon, a son of the late William C., Sr. and Ivy E. Wolf Becker. William was the husband of Nancy Kirkessner Becker. They were married May 21, 1960, and spent 54 wonderful years together. Mr. Becker was a retired Journeyman Machinist with the Bethlehem Steel Co. After retiring from Bethlehem Steel, he continued working part-time at various jobs. For the last 15 years, he was employed by the Lebanon Daily News. He was a graduate of Cornwall High School Class of 1952. He enjoyed golfing and traveling with his wife to all 50 states and Europe. He was a member of the Lebanon Elks Lodge #631 and Salem Lutheran Church, Lebanon, and a former member of the Lebanon Polka Pals. Surviving in addition to his wife is his daughter, Sherri Prinsen of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Sean, Taylore and Joseph Prinsen, all of Colorado Springs, Colo. A funeral service will be held in the Rohland Funeral Home, Inc., 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, PA, 17042 on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. with his pastor, the Rev. Robert B. Ierien officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Lebanon. Beliveau, Armand F.  
Armand F. Beliveau LEBANON Armand F. "Frenchie" Beliveau, 83, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015, at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Gloria I. (Raynes) Beliveau. They were married 48 years. Born in Manchester, New Hampshire on January 4, 1932, he was a son of the late Armand F. and Germaine M. (Barbeau) Beliveau. Armand worked as an HVAC electrician. He was a former member of the American Legion in Lebanon and the Annville VFW and served his country proudly as a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Sherry, wife of Donald Hower, Deborah Gibson and Daniel Swisher, and Karen Gibson; a son, Doug Gibson; a sister, Irene Yergeau; three grandchildren, Tessa, wife of Paul Loy, Corey, husband of Rita Swisher, and Sheena Shenenberger; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six siblings, Lorraine, Paul, Roger, Lucille, Norman, and Leo and a grandson, Donald Hower, Jr. Funeral services with full military honors will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Friday at 12:30 p.m. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements. Brown Jr., John S.  
John S. "Stew" Brown, Jr. MYERSTOWN John Stuart "Stew" Brown, Jr., 85, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in the hospice unit of the VA Medical Center, Lebanon. He was the husband of Jeannette K. (Miller) Brown to whom he would have been married 63 years on February 25, 2015. Born in Upper Darby on April 14, 1929, he was the son of the late John S. Sr. and Annetta Mae (Metzger) Brown. John served in the U.S. Air Force and PA Air National Guard for 41 1/2 years as an airplane mechanic and flight line supervisor, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1989. He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Myerstown. He was honored for serving as an assistant fire chief for 13 years with the Keystone Hook & Ladder Co. #1, Myerstown, with life membership in 1975. He also served as a trustee and assistant recording secretary. He was also a member of the 148th Fighter Squadron Assn. and the Marion Senior Citizens. John was a life member of several organizations such as the Lebanon Co. Firefighters Assn., the former Lebanon Co. Fire Chiefs Assn., Myerstown VFW Post 6076, Richland American Legion Post 880, Myerstown Rod & Gun Club, and the Lebanon Cedar Hunting Camp in Tioga County. John also camped with the GI Gypsies and Travel Timers, and helped serve ice cream with the ELCO Renaissance Program. In addition to his wife, John is survived by sons, John S. Brown III, companion of Diana Flanagan of Myerstown, Randall L., husband of Linda Mae Brown of Myerstown; grandchildren, Matthew and Katie; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Jackson, Kylie, Hayden, and Johnathon; two step great-grandchildren; brother, Richard F., husband of Luanne Brown of Sarasota, Fla.; half-sister, Margaret, wife of Karl Fink of Sterling, Va.; and 13 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his step-mother, Mabel Walton Brown. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, preceded by a visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Interment with full military honors will be at Heidelberg Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Myerstown. Brubaker, Verna B.  
Verna B. Brubaker RUTLEDGE, MO Verna B. (Horst) Brubaker, 86, went to her reward, January 23, 2015, at her residence near Rutledge, Mo. (She had a home on the Mark Martin property the past four years.) Verna was born on October 27, 1928, in Goodville, Pa. to the late Rufus and Lizzie (Burkholder) Horst. On November 5, 1949, Verna married Alvin B. Brubaker. They were married 58 years until his death December 21, 2007. Verna was a member of the Millport Mennonite Church south of Rutledge, Mo. She is survived by their eight children, Edwin and (Esther Hoover) Brubaker of Memphis, Mo., Miriam and (Paul Reiff) of Mohnton, Pa., Rachel and (Martin High) of Lebanon, Pa., Ruth and (Edwin Horst) of Memphis, Mo., Mary and (Mark Martin) of Rutledge, Mo., Martha and (Marlin Martin) of Loyal, Wisc., Raymond and (Julia Hoover) Brubaker of Centerview, Mo., Linda and (Ralph Burkholder), of Downing, Mo.; 48 grandchildren; and 116 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Edith (widow of Jonas) Zimmerman of Lebanon, Pa. and Elizabeth (widow of Titus) Hoover of Lititz, Pa.; two sisters-in-law, Grace (widow of Earl) Horst and Janis (widow of Irvin) Horst. Verna was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Elaine Brubaker and Jerome Horst; and three sisters, Edna B. Martin, Susie B. Brubaker and Alta B. Martin; four brothers, Ivan B. Horst, Earl B. Horst, Irvin B. Horst and Rufus B. Horst. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at the Millport Mennonite Church south of Rutledge, Mo. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2015, at the Hillcrest Mennonite Community Center south of Rutledge, Mo. Burial will be in the Millport Mennonite Cemetery south of Rutledge, Mo. Officiating the services will be Abner Oberholtzer, Earl Oberholtzer, Carl Hoover and Calvin Hoover. Casket bearers will be Lowell Brubaker, Marlin High, Jr., Stephen Horst, Marcus Martin, Travis Burkholder and Carl Martin. The family requests no flowers, only your presence and prayers. The Doss Funeral Home, of Edina, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.

Richard M. Carpenter, Sr. MYERSTOWN Richard M. Carpenter, Sr., 84, formerly of Pleasant Hill, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of Margaret E. (Plush) Carpenter who died January 12, 2015. Born in Quentin, on September 18, 1930, he was the son of the late Simon T. and Bessie (Grose) Carpenter. A member of Myerstown Church of the Brethren and the Travelers Protective Association, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He is survived by a son, Rick Jr., husband of Laurie Carpenter of Stevens; former daughter-in-law, Debra Ollar-Carpenter; grandchildren, Nathan Carpenter, Dorian Shreve, Sarah Blessing, and Rebekah Carpenter; great- grandchildren, Daymien, Alexander, Ella, and McKenah; a sister, Mary Gassert; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Gassert, and Eleanor Harvey; and brothers, Frederick Carpenter, Simon Carpenter, William Carpenter, Lewis Carpenter, Sr., Harry Carpenter, and M. Kenneth Carpenter, Sr. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Myerstown Church of the Brethren, 51 W. Chryst, Charlotte  
Charlotte Chryst CAMPBELLTOWN Charlotte Lucille Horst Chryst passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015, at the Hershey Medical Center. Born January 9, 1923, she was a lifelong resident of Campbelltown, and was preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth (Red) Chryst, and her parents, Harry William Horst and Charlotte Lucille Felty Horst of Campbelltown. She graduated from Hershey High School in 1940 and the Central Penn Business College in 1941. She worked as a secretary at the Hershey Chocolate Company from 1941 until her retirement in 1985. During that time, she had the honor of meeting Milton S. Hershey. Charlotte's assignments were in the Corporate Headquarters as Executive Secretary, rising to assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Hershey Chocolate. Charlotte was a bridesmaid at the wedding of her best friend Miriam Wagner, who married the Tonight Show star Jack Parr. She was a life member of the Campbelltown United Church of Christ, the Quentin Riding Club and the Campbelltown Fire Company. In her earlier years, she loved to play cards, dance, travel, play golf and worked on various community activities, most notably the Campbelltown Bell Project. She is survived by a stepson, James F. Chryst of New Providence. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Dwight C. Hein at the Salem United Church of Christ, 2761 Horseshoe Pike, Campbelltown, at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 31. A public viewing will be held one hour before the funeral at 10 a.m. Funeral Director will be the Rothermel Funeral Home, Palmyra. Interment will follow the funeral at the Salem Reformed Cemetery adjacent to the church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in honor of Charlotte to Salem UCC, P.O. Drumm, Thomas W.  
Thomas W. Drumm GLOVERSVILLE, NY Thomas W. Drumm, 64, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, unexpectedly at his home. Born September 29, 1950, in Muncy, Pa., he was a son of the late James H. and Alyce J. Derr Drumm. Thomas graduated from Montgomery High School in Montgomery, Pa. He was the owner of the TW's Leather Inc. in Gloversville, N.Y. Tom enjoyed sports; he was an avid wrestler and football player in high school. After high school he enjoyed golfing, cooking, growing beautiful flowers outside, and Penn State football. He enjoyed the outdoors and going to the lake near his home. Tom was recognized for both his business savvy and love for his family. Survivors include his daughter, Michele Drumm Survance of Lancaster; son, TW Drumm; as well as another daughter; three grandchildren; one brother, James Drumm; five sisters, Suzanne Person, Cheryl Miklos, Molly Bollinger, Alyce Gutherie, and Jennifer Crowner; and many nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his brother, David B. Drumm. Friends are invited to gather at a visitation with the family on Thursday, January 29, 2015, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Charles F.
