"Bosh" Donald Groy LEBANON "Bosh" Donald Groy, 83, completed his life at home on Sunday, October 13, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Louise Arnold Groy of Lebanon. He is survived by his only child, Christina Butler with husband Steve Butler; two granddaughters, Erica and Alyssa Butler of Robesonia; nephews, Tim Groy of Toms River, N.J., and Scott Groy of Lebanon; nieces, Susan Groy of Carlise and Penny Groy of Lebanon; and five great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Victor and mother Ethel Groy, brothers Cliff, James, and Andrew Groy, and nephew Tommy Groy, son of Cliff Groy. A basketball player from Lebanon High School, he graduated in 1947. Bosh served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from June 1947 to Nov. 1948 and was recalled to active duty from Sept. 1950 to Oct. 1951. He attained the rank of SSgt. Bosh received an Associates Degree from Lebanon Business College in 1952 and worked for Bethlehem Mines Corporation from 1951 until 1979. He worked his way up to become an industrial analyst. Upon closure of the mines, Donald began working at Cleaver Brooks, Inc., from 1980 until his retirement as an industrial engineer. He also worked as a bartender at Fairview Golf Course for over 46 years. He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Parish, then St. Mary's Parish in Lebanon. Donald enjoyed playing golf, bowling, fishing and hunting deer at Camp Deluxe in Trout Run, Pa. He was a member of the Elks Lodge
in Lebanon and a member of the Monday morning breakfast club at Fishers' Diner. Donald, a practical joker, loved to laugh and always had a story to tell. He has touched many people's lives throughout his life and quote " I had a great run." Services will be held October 19 at St. Mary's Parish in Lebanon. Family will receive vistors at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 10 a.m. Following the service, a party to celebrate his life will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Scott and Margie Groy's house, 16 Stoneleigh Drive in Lebanon. Everyone is welcome to attend. Per Donald's request, no tears - just music, whiskey and dancing.
