David C. Shuey

David C. Shuey ANNVILLE David Calvin Shuey, 96, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Jane A. Early-Hostetter Shuey, with whom he celebrated 36 years of marriage in August 2013. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Hollinger Shuey, in 1975. Born in N. Annville Twp., on November 22, 1917, he was the son of the late Calvin and Elizabeth Ebersole Shuey. He was a member of Fairland Brethren in Christ Church in Cleona, where he served as a former church trustee. David farmed in N. Annville Twp., and then worked as a salesman at Sears and Robuck for 22 years. After retirement he worked for Royer's Greenhouse. His interests included raising rabbits, working in the garden, and woodworking. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons, Jay Robert Shuey and wife, Brenda of Lebanon, David Charles Shuey of Lebanon, Edward J. Hostetter of Jonestown, and Dwight A. Hostetter and wife, Debbie of Chelsea, Ala.; daughters, Joan Beck and husband, Larry of Jonestown, and Barbara B. Burkholder and husband, Bryan of Lebanon; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and sisters, Anna E. Bomgardner of Annville and Irene E. Gingrich of Annville. David is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jacob E. Shuey, and a sister, Viola H. Stover. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2014, at 2 p.m. from the Kreamer Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., 618 E. Main St., Annville. Burial will be at Grand View Memorial Park.
