Eugene A. Wright LEBANON Eugene Armstrong Wright, 85, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. He was born and raised in Detroit, Mich., on September 24, 1928, and he leaves behind his loving wife, Denise. He is survived by his children, Sue Anne Steinmeyer, Marianna Doherty, Jim Wright, Elizabeth Heilman, and Dan Wright; his six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Dolores Nygren. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Michael Eugene Wright. Gene was a decorated nine year Marine Corps veteran. He saw combat during the Korean War and was awarded the U.S./Korean Service ribbon with three battle stars, combat action ribbon, and Navy/Marine commendation. His last year of active duty was as an inspector instructor in the U.S. and he was awarded his second good conduct medal. He was a sales and marketing executive for 14 years at OM Scott and for 31 years at Lebanon Seaboard. He developed Preen Garden Weed Preventer as a national brand. Gene will be remembered for his giving nature and his love of China. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and travel. He volunteered at the Literacy Council, the Veteran's Hospital, and Global Volunteers in Southwest China. Gene was a member of National VFW Post #15040, the American Legion Post Annville #0559, and he was a lifetime member of the Marine Corps Association. A private funeral service will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lebanon Community Library, 125 N. 7th St., Lebanon, PA 17046.
