Eugene B. Warner JACKSON TOWNSHIP Eugene B. Warner, 83, passed away after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson's disease on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Cedar Haven, where he had been a resident since January. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann (Lakatosh), with whom he was married 59 years; his four children, William, husband of Judy of Lebanon, James, husband of Kerry Sacco of Columbia, Joann Warner, wife of John Latimer of Lebanon, and Karen Bechtold of Harrisburg; and five grandchildren, Sara Bechtold, Benjamin Bechtold, Kaitlin Latimer, Ryan Latimer and Christopher Warner. He is also survived by a sister, Irene Kizer of Lebanon; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Jean; and brothers, Russell Warner and Dale Warner. Born on July 27, 1930, in Pine Grove, he was the son of the late William and Gertrude Schneck Warner. Gene, as his friends called him, was a 1948 graduate of Lebanon High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1953 during the Korean War, achieving the rank of staff sergeant. He was a clerk at the Lebanon Post Office for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He was a devoted family man and loved his role as a husband, father and grandfather. He was a talented woodworker, building toys for his grandchildren and furniture for family and friends. He was an avid sports fan, especially high school sports and the Philadelphia Phillies. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 126 S. Ninth St., Lebanon. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
