Eugene F. Rickert

Eugene F. Rickert LEBANON Eugene F. Rickert, 87, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the husband of Peggy Light Rickert with whom he would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this April 24th. Born in Summit Hill on June 6, 1926, he was the son of the late Lewis and Irene Sorber Rickert. He was a retired criminal investigator with the Pennsylvania State Police, Jonestown and Reading Barracks. After retirement, he served as a Deputy with the Lebanon County Sheriff's Department. Eugene was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and a graduate of Summit Hill High School and attended Drexel University, Philadelphia. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Lebanon, the Lebanon VFW Post 23, Annville American Legion Post 559, B.P.O.E. Elks, Lebanon, Lebanon Navy Club, and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was an avid golfer. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Jeffrey E. Rickert and wife Michele of Lancaster; Anne L. Rickert of East Petersburg; three grandchildren, Matthew, Kevin, Christine; and five sisters, Kathryn, Joan, Doris, Florence, and Ruthann. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Louis, Norman, and Gordon. Memorial services will be held on Thursday at 12:00 Noon at Salem Lutheran Church, 8th and Willow Streets, Lebanon, PA 17046. Inurnment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the Church.
