Henry J. Gettle

Henry J. Gettle MYERSTOWN Henry J. Gettle, 76, formerly of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, June 1, 2014, at his residence. He was the husband of N. Louise (Althouse) Gettle, to whom he would have been married 55 years on October 7. Born in N. Lebanon Twp. on June 8, 1937, he was the son of the late Henry E. and Beulah (Weaver) Gettle. He served in the U.S. Army Airborne Infantry from 1954 to 1957 and was employed for 40 years as a truck driver, retiring from Hess Trucking, Harrisburg, in 2002. Henry was a member of the Goodwill Fire Co., Myerstown, Mt. Aetna Fire Co., American Legion, and enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bowling, and watching the stars. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Theresa A., wife of David Field of Myerstown, Caroline, wife of John Jernigan of Jonestown, Priscilla, wife of Bobby VanDewark of Sayre, Anne, wife of Mika Miller of Lebanon; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Gerald, husband of Pauline Gettle of Jonestown; sisters, Nancy, wife of Bill Sheffy of Pine Grove, Maeanna, wife of Bob Miller of Myerstown, Betty, wife of Earl Brown of Womelsdorf; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Gettle. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Avenue, Myerstown, preceded by a viewing beginning at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be at Grand View Memorial Park, Annville. www.grosefuneralhome.com
