Ira J. Light

Ira J. Light PALMYRA Ira J. Light, 91, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Countryside Christian Community. He was the husband of Margaret Kauffman Light, to whom he would have been married 20 years in May 2014. Born in Schaefferstown, on October 20, 1922, he was the son of the late Caleb and Anna Stohler Light. He retired as a painter from the Milton Hershey School. Ira was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Hershey #666. His interests included painting for more than 60 years, hunting, doing things around the house, sitting on the back porch, and talking with his neighbors. He was an avid Phillies fan. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a stepdaughter, Suzane L. Bray of Palmyra; two step grandchildren, Bill, Jr. and Brian, husband of Beth; four step great-grandchildren, Charlie, Meghan, Sarah, ad Patrick; and a step great-great-granddaughter, Emily. He was predeceased by a daughter, Beverly A. Thompson; three brothers, Caleb, Wilmer, and Homer; and a sister, Dorothy Strohm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 618 E. Main St., Annville. Interment will be in Grand View Memorial Park, with full military honors. There will be a viewing held at 10 a.m. prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Lebanon County Humane Society, 150 N. Ramona Road, Myerstown, PA 17067 in Ira's memory.
