Margaret J. Whitman LEBANON Margaret Jacqueline Whitman, 83, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014, in Oakdale, Pa., in the care of her nieces, Jodie Anderson and Janine Wade. Born in Lebanon, on January 19, 1931, Jackie was the daughter of the late Sterling and Agnes (Curtin) Whitman. She was a 1948 graduate of Lebanon High School and a life member of St. Mary's Church, where she faithfully attended Mass, sang in the choir, and participated in her parish activities. She was employed by Bell Atlantic-Verizon and later Cornwall-Lebanon School District. She was honored as a 60 year member of Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. When her health no longer permitted her to live at home, she resided at Linden Village prior to her move to Oakdale. Preceding her in death were sisters, Helen Colleen Toye and Jean Sirola, and a brother, Richard Whitman. She is survived by a sister, Nancy, wife of John Gerlach of Lancaster. Jackie had a great love for children and was a special "Aunt Jackie" to all her nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and nieces. Funeral Mass Monday, June 23, 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 2 N. 8th St., Lebanon 17046. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation hours Monday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
