Merritt J. Marks

Merritt J. Marks RICHLAND Merritt J. Marks, 85, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2013, at Ephrata Manor, Ephrata. He was a long-time and highly regarded business and community leader in Lebanon County and will be remembered for his enthusiasm and influence on everyone he met because of his positive attitude. He exemplified the motto on his license plate, "B POSITV". Born on April 19, 1927, in Richland, he was the son of the late Jonas H. Marks and Sadie (Royer) Marks of Richland and the husband of the late, Nancy (Riehl) Marks, who died in 1997 and to whom he had been married for 47 years. A 1944 graduate of Richland High School, he was an honorary alumnus of Harrisburg Area Community College. He had been anactive member of Grace United Church of Christ, Richland. Merritt served in the U.S. Army prior to beginning a 44-year banking career in 1948 with the Richland National Bank and retired as Senior Vice President & Area Executive Officer, Lebanon County Region, Hamilton Bank (a CoreStates bank). He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Meretta J. Marks, Ephrata, and Keith M. Marks, husband of Debra A. Marks, Lititz; and granddaughters, Melissa J. Karli, Ephrata, Michelle M. Marks, Philadelphia, and Madelyn J. Marks, Ephrata. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin M. Marks, and a sister, Florence (Marks) Blouch. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, at Grace United Church of Christ, 22 Church St., Richland, followed by a private graveside ceremony for family members. Friends and family will be received at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Merritt's memory may be made to Grace United Church of Christ, P.O.
