Roland G. Eagle

Roland G. Eagle DERRY TWP. Roland G. Eagle, 82, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at home. He was born on a farm north of Annville to the late Raymond and Ruby (Layman) Eagle on February 28, 1931. He is survived by his sons, Glenn of Hummelstown, and Gregory and wife, Nancy Lou of Georgetown, Texas; and granddaughter, Ruth-Ann Eagle of Norman, Okla. He graduated from Palmyra High School, class of 1948. He attended monthly luncheons with his classmates. He graduated from Penn State with a Masters degree in math education and was a National Science Foundation Scholar for post graduate work in early computer science study. He was recruited as professor of mathematics at Luzerne County Community College in Nanticoke, Pa., when it opened in 1968. He taught locally at the Central Dauphin District and was a U.S. Army veteran. At his request, his body was donated for scientific research at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. A time of remembrance and memorial will be held at Memorial Lake of Indiantown Gap Military Reservation at the Middle Pavilion (with handicap access). This occasion will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2013, and will include a picnic. Please bring a story or picture to share with the group at this celebration of life.
