Edmund E. Broadbelt

Edmund E. Broadbelt PALMYRA Edmund E. Broadbelt, 93, of 28 Community Court, Palmyra went home to be with the Lord on Monday June 10, 2013, in his residence. He was the husband of Louise Craig Broadbelt with whom he celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this past March. Born in Newtown Square, on March 9, 1920, he was the son of the late Henry O. and Sara Scott Broadbelt. He retired after 32 years of service as postmaster for the Newtown Square Post Office. Edmund was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran of WWII, a 1939 graduate of Marple-Newtown High School, and attended Taylor Business School and Wharton Business School both in Philadelphia. He was an Ordained Presbyterian Elder and a member of Manoa United Presbyterian Church where he and his wife were former custodians, and attended the Hershey Evangelical Free Church. Edmund was also a member of the National Association of Post Masters, NARFE, served as a scout master, and was a volunteer at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home where he was the Chairman of the Grounds Committee. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, and taking care of the flowers and grounds at the Brethren Home. Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a daughter, Carolyn M. wife of Roy Russell of Broomall; a son, J. Keith husband of Dorothy Broadbelt of Springfield; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcia I. Broadbelt; a son, Wayne C. Broadbelt; and two brothers, Lester S. and Robert A. Broadbelt. Funeral services will be held on Monday June 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. from the DiMatteo Worship Center, 1200 Grubb Road, Palmyra, PA 17078. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall. No viewing or visitation. Contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home or the Salvation Army, 1031 Guilford St., Lebanon, PA 17046 in his memory.
