A. Violet Shanfelder MYERSTOWN A. Violet (Keller) Shanfelder, 99, passed away August 12, 2013 at SpringRidge Towne Center. She was the wife of the late Paul P. Shanfelder who died in Jan. of 1963. Born in Lower Swatara Twp., Dauphin County, she was a daughter of the late John Allen and Annie Mary (Flowers) Keller. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Myerstown. She was a 1932 graduate of Hummelstown High School. She retired in 1985 after 23 years from the Wernersville State Hospital as a night switchboard operator, having previously worked at Hershey Chocolate from 1932-1945. At a young age she moved to Hummelstown with her family. Once she was married she resided in Newmanstown until shortly after retirement when she moved to StoneRidge in Myerstown. She will be lovingly remembered for her immaculate housekeeping, baking wonderful cakes, cookies, and Sho-Fly pies, and preparing the best "big" hot dogs. Her smile and kind personality will be remembered as well as her great love for all of her family. She is survived by four grandchildren, Peter Lengel husband of Rhonda, Elaine Shanfelder, Jon Guy Shanfelder, and Jane wife of Al Mountz; seven great-grandchildren; and two nephews, William Groves husband of Shirley, and Donald Groves husband of Mary Ann. She was preceded in death by two step-sons, Guy and Clair Shanfelder; a step-daughter, Pauline Lengel; three brothers, Ralph, Willard, and Alvin Keller; and two sisters, Annie Zimmerman and Beatrice Groves. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Lamm and Witman Funeral Home, 243 W. Penn Ave., Wernersville. Friends are invited to call from 10:30 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hummelstown Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.lammandwitman.com
