Barbara R. Kildee Obituary
Barbara R. Kildee LEBANON Barbara R. Kildee, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at home. She was the wife of Jerome Michael Kildee, DMD. They would have celebrated 44 years of marriage in October 2014. Born in Philadelphia, on October 23, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Louis R. and Catherine R. (Maloney) Horvat. Barbara received her nursing diploma from The Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, later earning her BSN from The University of Pennsylvania and MSN from the Catholic University of America, where she was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the Honor Society of Nursing. She spent most of her career as a well respected nurse educator at various facilities, including DC General Hospital, Corning Community College, Keuka College, and Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing in Camden, N.J., as well as the VA Medical System in Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Bath, N.Y., Omaha, Neb., and El Paso, Texas. Her determination as a career woman, wife, and mother has served as an inspiration to many of her own family members who, with her encouragement, have shared the same successes. Barbara's was a life well lived. She enjoyed traveling, was a gourmet cook, and an avid reader, but what she enjoyed most of all was being a wife to Michael and a mother to Maura and Brigid, the daughters she and her husband adopted and so lovingly raised. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Maura, wife of Terrance Carolan, and Brigid, wife of Jason Gatchell; two granddaugh-ters, Izabella R. Gatchell and Elyn Carolan; a grandson, Andrew Carolan; and her sister, Frances Montini. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Charles Montini. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 2596 Cornwall Road, Cornwall 17016, with a visitation hour from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church social hall. Interment will follow at Holy Savior Cemetery. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements. Please share your thoughts and memories with the family at our online guestbook at
