Dorothy Eckert Obituary

Dorothy R. Eckert, 94, formerly of Palmyra died Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at Twin Oaks Nursing Center, Campbelltown. Born January 30, 1914, in Hershey, she was the daughter of the late Irvin K. and Ada (Rupp) Rudy. She was the widow of Harvey M. Eckert, and was also preceded in death by a son, Richard B. Eckert; and brothers Robert E. Rudy, Irvin Russell Rudy and J. Richard Rudy. She previously worked for Mrs. Miller's Pies, Hershey Department Store and Milton Hershey School; was a member of Palm Lutheran Church, Palmyra; and enjoyed sewing and painting. Surviving are her daughters, Sandra M. Walters of Palmyra and Mary Jane, wife of Clarence Hitz of Hummelstown; daughterin-law Janet E. Eckert of Hershey; sister-in-law Josephine F. Rudy of Hummelstown; nine grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008, at Palm Lutheran Church, 11 West Cherry Street, Palmyra, preceded by a viewing from 10 a.m. Burial will be in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church, 11 West Cherry Street, Palmyra, PA 17078. Condolences may be shared at BuseFuneralHome.com.
