Leon K. Kline Obituary
Leon K. Kline LEBANON Leon K. Kline, 89, died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at his residence. He was the husband of Anna M. (Snyder) Kline who died December 29, 2013. Born in S. Lebanon Twp. on July 18, 1925, he was the son of the late John H. and Bertha M. (Kieffer) Kline. He was an active member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lebanon, where he participated with the Lutheran's Men Group and previously served on Church Council and Property Committee. He was employed at Kline's Performance Repair, Lebanon, customer service; BHT Construction, Myerstown, road supervisor; Smith Motors, Lebanon, mechanic; Halfway Holsteins, Myerstown, self-employed farmer; Hess Plumbing and Heating, Myerstown, plumbing supplies; retiring in 1990. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, Pacific Theatre, and was a founding member of the Navy Club Ship 91. He served with the VFW Post 23 Lebanon, American Legion, Lebanon; National L.S.T. Association; Navy Club USA; and the Sampson Naval Base Historical Society. He had a great interest in motor sports and was an avid Penn State sports fan. He was involved in motorsports as a driver, pit crew, mechanic and avid fan. He was strongly involved with the Mike Uhrich Racing Team, Kline Performance Repair, and the LANCO Micro-midget Racing Club. He is survived by daughters, Carol Kleinfelter, Cornwall, Barbara, wife of Floyd Brandt, Lebanon, Donna, wife of Craig Hartman, Gordonsville, Va.; and Ann, wife of James Kush, Lebanon; sons, Terry L., husband of Hilde Kline, Richmond, Ky. and John C., husband of Paula Kline, Lebanon; grandchildren, Jennifer, wife of Joseph Marx, Sinking Spring, Sherrie, wife of Stephen Moyer, Cornwall, Tracie, wife of Q. Zane Rhodes II, Norman, Okla., Mark, husband of Melissa Brandt, Cornwall, Gwendolyn, wife of Tim Foerster, Alexandria, Va., Craig, husband of Natalie Hartman, Padua, Italy, and Jody Kline, Lebanon; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Earl Kline, Lebanon. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Hartman; sisters, Dorothy Espenshade and Bertha Duffy; brothers, John, Stanley, and Edward Kline. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 4 p.m. from St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lebanon, preceded by a viewing beginning at 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 534 E. Lehman St., Lebanon, PA 17046.
