Lew "Googie" A. Shanaman NEWMANSTOWN "Googie" Lew A. Shanaman, 86, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. Born in Richland, on November 8, 1927, he was the son of the late Claude C. and Mollie M. (Sellers) Shanaman. He was employed as a custodian at Richland Knitting Mills for many years. He was a member of the Richland American Legion-Post 880, Newmanstown Athletic Association, Womelsdorf Rod and Gun Club, and the Marion Rod and Gun Club. He was a Phillies fan, enjoyed watching baseball, football, and hockey games on TV, and playing poker with his friends. He is survived by sisters, Ina wife of Donald Schaeffer of Lady Lake, FL, Ann Kreiser of Richland, Joy wife of Steve Garloff of Richland; brothers, Ned Shanaman of Lebanon, Gar husband of Doris Shanaman of Womelsdorf, Dale husband of Donna Shanaman of Richland, Ray husband of Perri Shanaman of Richland; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Ken, Jay, Lyn, and Lee; and sisters, Fay, Rea, and Ora. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. from Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, preceded by a viewing beginning at 10 a.m. Interment at Richland Cemetery.
