Paul J. Olsavsky, Sr. HERSHEY Paul J. Olsavsky, Sr., 84, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013, at Hershey Medical Center with his family at his side. Paul was born on June 17, 1929, in Filbert, Redstone Twp, to the late Paul F. and Mary Nehela Olsavsky. He was a 1947 graduate of Redstone High School, a 1951 graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, N.Y., and an officer in the U.S. Navy. He was previously employed by American Export Lines (N.Y.), Walter Kidde Co., and as VP/Director of Sales for P.J. Hydraulics and Flomega, Inc. of Myerstown. Paul was a loving and devoted father to more than just his natural children. As a member of St. Joan of Arc Parish, Hershey, he was a Eucharistic Minister, a CCD instructor, a member of the Cursillo Community and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also an avid golfer and fisherman. He will be best remembered for his kindness, his very outgoing and generous nature and sense of humor. Throughout his life he reached out without hesitation to his extended family and others when they needed it most. Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan Kane Olsavsky, a sister, Josephine and a brother, Francis. Surviving are his daughter, Mary Beth Kreller (husband Andrew) of Hershey; three sons, Paul J. Jr. of Harrisburg, Brian T. (wife Susan) of Bellevue, Wash., and Kevin M. (wife Sandra) of Havertown; a brother, William "Jake" (wife JoAnn) of St. Clairsville, Ohio; seven grandchildren - Shawn (wife Kristen) and Steven Grendzinski, Katherine, Alexandra, Gracie, Ryan and Erin Olsavsky; and a great-granddaughter, Jenna Walter of Lititz. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. in the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Hershey Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday, July 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hoover Funeral Home of Hershey, with a prayer service beginning at 5:45 p.m. Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory of Hershey is handling arrangements.
