Betty J. Souders LEBANON Betty J. Souders, 85, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, in Cedar Haven, where she had been a resident for over three years. She was the widow of Richard W. Souders, who died in June 1989. She was born in Lebanon, on July 31, 1927, to the late William White Pfautz and Ada Leininger Pfautz. Betty was a fun loving character and was always young at heart. In her younger days, Betty attended many softball games with her husband either playing or umpiring. She loved going on vacations to the Steel Pier in Atlantic City and had a passion for parades, often taking her young nieces. Betty never had children of her own but treated her nieces, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews with love, never forgetting to send birthday and holiday wishes. They all meant the world to her and she especially enjoyed seeing the little ones. She is survived by a sister, Gloria, wife of Frederick Shertzer of Lebanon; nieces, Brenda, wife of Thomas Kunder of Lebanon, Sharon, wife of David Hunter of Temple, and Linda, wife of Bruce Loser of Hummelstown. Also surviving are seven great-nieces and nephews, and eight great-great-nieces and nephews, who she adored. Arrangements are entrusted to The Rohland Funeral Home with a graveside service scheduled for Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Cedar Haven's Therapeutic Recreation Fund, 590 S. 5th Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042. www.rohlandfh.com
