Bruce J. Hartman PALMYRA Bruce J. Hartman, 73, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at home. He was the husband of Joyce E. Line Hartman. Born in Lebanon on November 27, 1940, he was a son of the late Mary (Knoll) and Charles J. Hartman. Bruce worked for many years at the former Bethlehem Steel and later became owner/operator of Hartman's Roofing and Siding. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Lebanon VFW Post 23, American Legion, Steeltown Gun Club, Lebanon Valley Police Pistol Club, and the USS Barton Reunion Organization Tin Can Sailors. Bruce was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Cuban Crisis. He enjoyed the outdoors, the beach, and building and repairing things. Bruce was a fun-loving man who cherished time spent with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Michelle E., wife of Louis Shindel of Jonestown, Christina M., wife of the late Rodney Bowman of Palmyra, and Jennifer S. Scipioni of Lebanon; a son, Joseph S., husband of Michelle Hartman of Lebanon; two sisters, Marilyn, wife of Anthony Mohl of Lebanon, Helen, wife of the late Jim Lander of Chambersburg; eleven grandchildren, Tyler, Joshua, Hanna, and Maximus Scipioni; Lindsay, Corey, and Nikki Bowman; and Caitlyn, Michael, Emily, and Nicholas Hartman; and one great-grandchild, Jaidyn Scipioni. He was preceded in death by a sister, Christine, wife of the late James Souders. Funeral Mass Monday morning at 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Church, 245 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. Viewing from 9 to 11 a.m. at church. Interment with full military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Veterans Hospital Hospice Unit, 1700 S.
