Martha Albert Putnam TAMPA, FL Martha Albert Putnam passed away on Friday, February 28, 2014, in the Melech Hospice House in Tampa, Fla. She was born in Lebanon on November 8, 1929, to the late Henry F. and Blanche V. Kochenberger Albert. Growing up, she worked in the family business, Albert Brothers Bakery in Myerstown. She graduated from Myerstown High School in 1947, where she played basketball. She also graduated with a BS Degree in mathematics from Susquehanna University in 1951, where she was the captain of the field hockey and basketball teams. After graduation, she worked in engineering at the General Electric Plant in Schnectady, N.Y. She married the late Rhea Putnam on February 13, 1954. They raised their four children while living in the United States, Beirut Lebanon, London England, and many years in Saudi Arabia, where Rhea was an engineer for Tapline and Aramco. Martha also taught sixth grade in Beirut, Lebanon and was a math tutor. When they returned to the United States, they lived in Myerstown and then moved to Exmore, Va., where they enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake. She volunteered at the Nassawadox Hospital and tutored math students at Bridgewater Academy. Among her many interests were quilting, reading, tennis and games like Bridge, Pinochle, Hearts, Canasta, Hosse and Parcheesi. She also loved to shop. She was a devoted Lutheran and member of Friedens Lutheran Church. She is survived by her children, Pamela (Lee) Moeller of Clear Lake, Iowa, Lyn Heinz of Tampa, Fla., Stephen of West Burke, Vermont, and Peter (Jane) of North Andover, Mass. There are also 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Her brother, Paul and wife Alice of Myerstown also survive, as does a very close cousin, Bob Albert and wife, the former Mary Louise Miller of West Palm Beach, Fla. There are numerous nieces and nephews and cousins surviving as well. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; her brother, Dr. Harold Albert and his wife, the former Marjorie Klopp; and a nephew, Jimmy Albert. Martha will be buried in Friedens Memorial Park in Myerstown on July 13, 2014. The service is being planned by her family and will be held in Friedens Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to Lifepath Hospice; or Friedens Lutheran Church, 301 W. Washington Avenue, Myerstown, PA 17067. The Holloway Funeral Home, Oldsmar, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
