Russell H. Shaak LEBANON Russell H. Shaak, 83, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014 at his residence. He was the husband of Christine (Reich) Shaak. Born in Lebanon, on October 28, 1930, Russell was a son of the late Henry and Mildred (Rhine) Shaak. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Church, the Annville American Legion, Lebanon VFW, Knights of Columbus, Friendship Fire Company, and the Lebanon Navy Club. He served as past President of the Hebron Fire Company for 40 years, where he helped to oversee the building of their new firehouse. He was a previous coach of the Hebron Teeners Baseball Team and was inducted in the PA Sports Hall of Fame in March of 1978. Russell was a U.S. Navy veteran and served as a flagman for the aircraft carrier Cabot in the Korean War. He was a die hard Penn State and Phillies fan and was the number one fan for all granddaughters' sports events. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Judith, wife of Richard Wengert and Deborah, wife of the late Kenneth Klahr; five granddaughters, Sherry, wife of Keith McIntyre; Amanda Wengert and friend Alexander Matos; Amy Wengert and friend Raymond Gildersleeve; Anna Wengert and friend Dylan Kapp; and Alisha Wengert and friend Daulton Kapp; two great-grandsons, Domani Matos and Steven Krause; two sisters, Janet Kauffman and Nancy Huffman and one brother, Joe Shaak. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Dennis Shaak; a sister, Marian Shaak; and a granddaughter, Alaneah Wengert. Funeral Mass Thursday morning 10 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Church, 202 E. Lehman St., Lebanon, 17046. Viewing hours from 9 to 10 Thursday morning at the church. Interment with full military honors will take place on Friday morning 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, Lebanon.
