Verna J. Rentschler LEBANON Verna Jean (Hoffer) Rentschler passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. She was the wife of the late Wayne R. Rentschler, Sr. Born in Hebron, on July 26, 1933, Verna was the daughter of the late Harvey and Esther Hoffer. She was a graduate of the South Lebanon High School Class of 1951. She is a former Bell Telephone operator and is retired from Verl's Salads. She was a member of St. John's U.C.C., Fredericksburg, where she had been a former member of the Women's Fellowship, a Sunday School teacher, served on the Consistory Board for two years, and sang in the choir. Her hobbies included puzzles, hook rugs, reading, and rummage sales. She is survived by daughters, Faydeen, wife of Levi Gerhart of Jonestown, Denise, wife of Richard Voshell of Fredericksburg, Cynda, wife of John Kless of Fredericksburg, and Sandra, wife of Joseph Drupp of Lebanon; sons, Wayne Rentschler and Steven Hetrick, both of Lebanon; sister, Faye Phillips of Lebanon; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Tice, and her brother, Richard Hoffer. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the St. John's United Church of Christ, Fredericksburg. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. John's U.C.C., 141 W. Main St., Fredericksburg, PA 17026. Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Jonestown, is handling the arrangements.
