Dale R. Nelson, Sr. LEBANON Dale R. Nelson, Sr., formerly of Cleona, died Tuesday July 15, 2014 at home. He was the husband of the late JoAnn Runkel Nelson, to whom he was married 52 years. Dale was born in Lebanon, on May 6, 1940, and grew up in Cornwall. He was the son of the late Harold P. and Eleanor Weidman Nelson. His employment began as a miner with Cornwall Ore Mines in 1960 until 1972 when he began working for Millard's Quarry, Annville, which later became Bethlehem Mines. He retired there as a quarry attendant after 30 years of service. He also held jobs at Mark Kreider Mobile, Lebanon, Automotive Services, Annville, and Wengert's Dairy, Lebanon. Dale attended Cornwall High School, was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Cleona, A-C- Lions Club, Mt. Olivet Lodge #704 F. & A.M., Harrisburg Consistory, and the Tall Cedars. In addition to being a diehard Los Angeles Dodgers Fan, he enjoyed taking trips to Foxwood Casino and the horseracing track. His biggest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who each had a nickname he gave to them Surviving are two sons, Dale R., Jr., husband of Kim Nelson of South Annville, and David K., husband of Renee Nelson of Annville; a daughter, Donna J., wife of Steve Fancovic of Lebanon, and twin daughters, Dawn M. wife of Charles Dull of Annville, and Debra J., wife of William Bering, Sr. of Bethel; four brothers, Kenneth Nelson of Myerstown, William Nelson of Lebanon, Dennis Nelson of Lebanon, Rick Nelson of Lebanon; six sisters, Janice, wife of Carl Wise of Mt. Gretna, Linda, wife of Bob Trovinger of Rexmont, Priscilla Miller of Cornwall, Margie Deck of Lebanon, Anna, wife of Dale Lutz of Lititz, and Lisa Nelson of Cornwall; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Fredric Nelson; and three sisters, Kareen Vracarich, Jennifer Nelson, and Patricia Umberger. Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main St., Annville. Inurnment will be in Cornwall Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. until a Masonic Service by Mt. Olivet Lodge #704 beginning at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 100 E.
