Julia Smaltz LEESPORT Julia Smaltz, 94, formerly of Stouchsburg, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Berks Heim, Reading. She was the wife of Chester M. Smaltz, who died in 1966. Born in Mt. Holly Springs, on December 22, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Abby (Leeper) Hockley. A member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Myerstown, she was employed as a nurse's aide at Cedar Haven, Lebanon, for over 30 years. She was a member of the Lebanon County retirees'. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild, and enjoyed reading the newspaper. She is survived by daughters, Kay, wife of David Lessig of Reading, and Kim Knapp of Lebanon; son-in-law, Mark Schwear of Myerstown; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Schwear; and six brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 28, 2014, at 11 a.m. from Grose Funeral Home, 358 W.
