Donald C. Strauss HUMMELSTOWN Donald Charles Strauss, 78, went to be with the Lord Tuesday afternoon. He was born in Highspire, the son of the late Charles and LaVonne Strauss. He is survived by his wife, Sandy; his daughters, Donna Jean and husband Cory Blessing of Fredericksburg and daughter Denise Rene' and husband Eugene F. Montgomery II of Cleona; his step-daughter, Terry Lynn Leggore of Hummelstown; his stepsons, Richard Degler of Florida, Anthony Degler of Texas and Alfred Carrera of Hummelstown; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Audrey Siegfried and husband, Lewis of Campbelltown and Roberta Schmidt and husband Peter of Highspire; two brothers, William Strauss and his wife, Mim of Harrisburg and Stephen Strauss and his wife Clydene of Highspire; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his daughters, Shirley Strauss, and his stepson, David Degler. Don served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from Bethlehem Steel, Steelton Plant in 1999. He was also a Union Officer in the steelworkers union. Don was one of the founding members of the Lebanon Ski Club - this was an achievement he was extremely proud of and cherished his many memories as part of that club over the years. He lived life to the fullest, enjoying hunting, skiing, friends and family up until his last moment. He will be sadly missed by all. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Mt. Laurel Church of God, 1295 Piketown Road, Harrisburg. Inurnment will be at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Donald's memory be made to the American , 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17043. Online condolences may be left at www.hooverfuneralhome.com
