Michael A. Yavoich, Sr. HUMMELSTOWN Michael R. Yavoich, Sr., passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Carolyn R. Galinac Yavoich. On May 28, 2014, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Born in Washington, Pa., on October 14, 1928, he was the son of the late Michael and Viola Jasinski Yavoich. He retired from the PA Dept. of Labor and Industry, where he had been an inspector. During WWII, he served as a Corporal in the U.S. Air Force and he was a member of the Lawton Legion and the Rutherford VFW. He especially enjoyed cooking. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Michael R. and his wife, Sandra Yavoich of Hummelstown, and David W. and his wife, Grace Yavoich of Jonestown; brothers, Stanley Michaleski of Hagerstown, Md., Joseph Michaleski of Kinsman, Ohio, John Michaleski of Orwell, Ohio, and Edward Michaleski of Ohio; grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew (Megan), Joseph (Samantha), Brian (Suzanne), Nathan, and Michelle; and a great-granddaughter, Aurora. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Yavoich and Chester Michaleski. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
