Rev. Wilson R. Hoyer LEBANON Rev. Wilson R. Hoyer, 81, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014, at home. Rev. Hoyer was the husband of Susan L. Bowman Hoyer and the late Barbara Hoyer. Born in Reading, on May 23, 1933, he was the son of the late George and Buelah Fox Hoyer. Rev. Hoyer was a 1955 graduate of Muhlenberg College and a 1958 graduate of The Lutheran Theological Seminary of Philadelphia. He began his ministry at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Yelm, Wash., where he served from June 1958 to September 1960. He then went to St. John's Lutheran Church in Auburn, Pa., from 1960-1963. Later, in 1963, he left for St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Adamstown and served that church until 1971. He then came to Lebanon, where he served as pastor at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Lebanon, until he retired in 2003 after 33 years of service. He was presented with the Presidents' Award after 35 years of leadership with Tressler Lutheran Services, where he served as chairman. He also served on the governing board, finance committee, and central agency programs. In addition to his wife, Susan, he is survived by his sons, Chris M. Hoyer and Mark W. Hoyer; two stepdaughters; three grandchildren; five step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Paul Hoyer. He was predeceased by a son, Matthew Hoyer; and brothers, William and Lee Hoyer. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, at 10 a.m. from the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 723 Lehman St., Lebanon. Interment will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be a time of visitation prior to the services from 8 to 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to his church; or to the Habitat for Humanity of Lebanon County, 235 S. 12th St., Lebanon, PA 17042.
