BETHEL TWP. Richard C. Blatt, 79, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2012, at his residence. He was the husband of Marlene E. (Hoffman) Blatt. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on June 20, 2012. Born in Tulpehocken Twp., on October 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Charles and Ella (Unger) Blatt. He retired in 1985 from the former Quaker Alloy Casting Co., Myerstown, where he worked for 25 years. He also worked as a carpenter, mechanic, and enjoyed working on his farm. He was a member of Little Swatara Church of the Brethren, Bethel, where he served as an usher and greeter for many years. He loved hunting and enjoyed being with his family and friends. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Ronald L. Blatt of McMurray and Richard A. Blatt of Bethel; daughters, Diane E., wife of Kenneth J. Duell of Bethel, and Donna M., wife of Phillip J. Werley of Hamburg; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Hartman of Myerstown and June Rabold of Richland; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul, Irvin, Lewis, Charles, and Rufus Blatt; and sisters, Pearl Lausch, Ella Deck, Katie Ressler, and Joyce Sweitzer. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. from Little Swatara Church of the Brethren, Bethel. Viewing Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the church.
