Mary E. Bruckhart Obituary
Mary E. Bruckhart PALMYRA Mary E. Bruckhart, 97, died Thursday, November 15, 2012. Born January 4, 1915, in Fredericksburg, she was the daughter of Samuel and Mable Edris. She grew up along with eight siblings on their farm in Fredericksburg and attended the nearby one-room school. She married Abram F. Bruckhart of Manheim in April of 1935. Their 71 years of married life started as house parents for the Milton Hershey Industrial School. They settled in Palmyra, where they built their home on Hazel Street and raised two sons. Mary was a long time employee of the Hershey Chocolate Factory, retiring in 1978. In addition to her employment, she volunteered tirelessly, first for the Palmyra Church of the Brethren, and subsequently for the Annville Church of the Brethren, The Heffer Project, Hershey Medical Center, and the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home. Mary loved gardening, cooking for many church functions, and sewing. We, her family, treasure the beautiful quilts and crewel work designs she made over the years. They are a reminder of her love. Mary was predeceased by her son, Bruce, in 1941; husband, Abram in 2006; grandson, Patrick in August 2012; and siblings Verna Hostetter, Elias Edris, Erma Fahnestock, Rufus Edris, Mildred Kreiner, Edward Edris, Carl Edris, and Kenneth Edris. She leaves her sons, Glenn J. Bruckhart and wife, Judith of Littleton, Colo., and John Bruckhart of Palmyra; two grandchildren, T. Nicole Bruckhart, and Benjamin Bruckhart with partner Rich, all of Denver, Colo.; a granddaughter-in-law, Lynn Bruckhart, and two great-grandchildren, Tate and Tessa Bruckhart, all of Stevens Point, Wis.; and one brother. Lee Edris of Lebanon. Please join us for an Evensong Memorial service on December 7, 2012, at 5:30 p.m. at the Annville Church of the Brethren, 495 E. Maple St., Annville, PA 17003 with a time of fellowship following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Annville Church of the Brethren; or the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Good Samaritan Fund, 1200 Grubb Road, Palmyra, PA 17078. Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, Annville, is in charge of arrangements.
