John R. Nissley, Jr. EPHRATA John Robert Nissley Jr., 46, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. He was born in Lebanon to Lorraine (Bobb), wife of Garin Moore Sr. and the late John R. Nissley Sr. John was the husband of Leslie Elizabeth (Smith) Nissley, with whom he shared 16 years of marriage. John was a member of the Akron Mennonite Church. He was a graduate of Palmyra High School class of 1984. He earned a degree in architectural drafting from Harrisburg Area Community College, an associate degree in sciences at Greenville Technical School and a doctorate degree in chiropractic from Sherman College. He was the former owner of Nissley Family Chiropractic in Leola for 10 years. John was a member of the West Earl Lions Club, a former cub scout leader, West Earl, a former member and president of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, Lancaster. His hobbies were fencing, bicycling and balloon twisting. John is survived by a son, John William Nissley age 11; daughter, Emilie Nissley age 7, both at home; father and mother in law, Joseph D. and Emilie (Seidel) Smith of Spartanburg, S.C.; paternal grandmother, Anna Nissley of Mt. Gretna; a brother, Michael Nissley; two step brothers, Garin Moore Jr., Bill Moore; two step sisters, Patricia Hall, Cheryl Moore; brothers in law, A. J. Smith and Kyle Jordan; sisters in law, Abigail Jordan and Kimberly Smith; nieces and nephews, Rebecca Bissonnette, Joseph Ivy, Collin Nissley, Alicia Nissley, Andrew Jordan, Madelyn Jordan, Molly Jordan, Megyn Jordan, Ella Smith, Virginia Smith, Grace Smith, Jackson Smith. A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Akron Mennonite Church, 1311 Diamond St., Akron. A service to celebrate John's life will be held on Monday, January 21, at 11 a.m. at the Akron Mennonite Church with Pastor Jim S. Amstutz and Pastor Michelle Dula officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
