Eugene L. Kunkle PALMYRA Eugene Luke Kunkle, 73, passed away with family by his side on Friday, April 12, 2013, at The Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Mary E. (Seigrist) Kunkle. He was born Monday, June 26, 1939, in Berks County, to the late Charles E. and Sarah (Weaver) Kunkle. Eugene proudly served his country in the United States Army and spent his working years employed by Hershey Foods. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and of the Knights of Columbus. He was proudly known for his baking for church functions. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, and spending time in the mountains. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Amy Shepler and husband, Todd, and Beth Harris and husband, Greg; a stepdaughter, Cathy Good and husband, Bob; four grandchildren, Adam and Heather Good, and Adam and Jessica Theurer; and three siblings, Ray Kunkle and wife, Nancy, Ruth Stine and husband, Lee, and Pearl Swineheart. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 17, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078 with Father James F. Podlesny as celebrant. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow with full military honors in Grandview Memorial Park, Annville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra 17078. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Church of the Holy Spirit; or to the Knights of Columbus, P.O. Box 55, Palmyra 17078.
